Brooks offers his approval to the pseudo-remake by converting into one of the supporting characters: a laughing samurai cat, who here repeats some of the copies that the comedian popularised previously.
By the way, now that I’ve mentioned the latter, I should explain that all of the characters are cats, with the exception of the protagonist, a dog who aspires to be a samurai. Rob Minkoff stands out among the directors, having won a place in animation history after co-creating The Lion King with Roger Allers (1994).
If there is something that works against the film, it is the commotion that slightly tarnishes its central element. But it’s evident that A Samurai Hero gladly takes that risk, and it sets the stage for the type of wild humour that made Brooks renowned at the time.
